Awareness programs : interaction with general public on aspects of preventive and proactive eye care practices, some of them organised by various NGOs. Sessions include a lecture, onsite screening.
Proactive eye care : early detection of problems in children, some at schools, some at hospital premises. Hospital arranges either screening of children by technician or trains school staff to screen their children , provides vision charts and offers detailed evaluation at hospital for children with problems.
Public rallies : involving public in promoting pro active eye care, health walks organised to spread message regarding diabetes related eye issues. Event unfolds with a convocation, followed by a 5km walk in / around Sanjaynagar and RMV extension, culminates with a healthy breakfast. Also included are tips on general health, fitness, diet.
Outreach activities : screening camps, organised by resident welfare associations, or other groups of people, old age homes, hospital protocol includes retinal imaging in addition to testing for refractive errors, cataracts. Diagnostic reports and recommendations are given to attendees.
Other community engagements : - hospital has conducted theme based events for children, an art contest on theme of “ environment-my duty” was conducted in Nov 2019, as part of children`s day celeberations.
